WHERE
The location will be on an existing permaculture focused property somewhere in Victoria with future events occurring. else in Australia depending on interest.
WORKSHOPS
Workshops and discussions will be a mix of open space, programmed workshops, special events, practical and theoretical focuses and will include such things as:
- Exploration of causal factors behind different scenarios we face
- Permaculture Design and Systems thinking
- Craft skills such as smithing, leather work and building.
- Primitive skills such as tanning and fire starting
- Community building skills
- Horticulture
- Animal husbandry
- Energy systems
- Food storage
- Health healing and nutrition
- How to be a modern viking warrior
- and many more
The idea was the brain child of Adrian Whitehead (Grey Cliffs Permaculutre, Collapse Survival Training, Save the Planet), who floated the idea with his friends and fellow transitioners Theo Kitchener (Doing it Ourselves) and Rodger Sharp. (all round good guy)
The event's name has been inspired by two of the futures described in the "Future Scenario" work of permaculture co-founder David Holmgren, these being Earth Steward (Blue) and Life Boat (Red).
The Blue scenarios comprise softer collapse scenarios such as economic collapse, early stage global warming or mass viral outbreak while Red scenarios are more severe and associated with things such as nuclear war, late stage global warming, or solar flares.
The inaugural event was run in November 2014 in the Otways. in Victoria.
