Holistic Activism - a new way forward
Sunday 11am - 28th of Nov
"We need systemic and behavioural change in order to solve multiple crises and to prevent them from re-occurring." - Mark Allan.
How can we reduce conflict among activists and create campaigns that are long lasting while also reaching out and connecting with people who have different values to that of our own? Also, how can we do this in a manner that does not enable us to continue to repeat the mistakes of history? Holistic Activism recognises that traditional forms of activism are reactive in the way that they mostly tackle the symptoms of deeper issues. While this is not a bad thing, we believe that it is important to peel the onion back a layer and tackle those deeper issues while also tackling the symptoms. This is why Holistic activism is about developing a united and comprehensive movement of movements that has systemic and behavioural change at its very core.,

Changing the System!
Saturday 3pm - 27th of Nov
"We need systemic and behavioural change in order to solve multiple crises and to prevent them from re-occurring." - Theo Kitchener
"Changing the system proactively is both possible and necesssary! I'll cover the reasons why I believe building towards a blue transition with decline as the major impetus isn't a particularly good idea. As well as the strategic considerations which could lead to global system change through a powerful unified movement. A teal (blue with a bit of green) scenario would be the best possible outcome., and since that's the case, we ought to be able to convince most people of that. Once unified, people power could make it happen quite quickly! Making that happen will require very different thinking than what currently goes on in the left though!"

Animal based resources
Saturday 2pm - 27th of Nov
"Skin, bone, hair, sinew, organs - the many parts of an animal for use beyond food." - Ei Yan
Many modern tools and materials are made with polluting byproducts and do not biodegrade when their useful life is over. They may come from far away and rely on cheap energy for their manufacture. Many of the resources we used as humans prior to the industrial age are still available to us in the form of animal resources such as skin, sinew, fats and many more. Skin for naturally tanned leather, rawhide, buckskin and glue, sinew for sewing and cord, fats for soap, leather and tanning. These are just a few of the ways we can use these resources with many more besides. Tune into this workshop and learn about some of the my favourite ways to utilise animal resources in your life.
